character history - - - [/blockquote] [/blockquote]”So let me preface by saying I was an absolutely awful child. I bent rules until they broke. I refused to accept anything anyone else said as truth, until I had successfully proven it myself. I just could not wrap my mind around the concept of ‘good behavior‘. That being said, you‘re probably wondering what else is going on in my head. But you‘ll never understand that, so here‘s some more completely unwarranted information: I can‘t sit still. Ever since I was a little kid, I‘ve been bouncing off the walls. I would like to think it helps me do my job better, minus the very low ratio of times I pay attention to times I don‘t. I‘m incredibly energetic, and luckily, athletic as well. So I can chase you as long as you‘re running. Basically, if I‘m the one called to your crime scene, don‘t run. I will catch you. Ha! Anyway, this “disobedient“ phase of mine was just a phase. Granted, it was a very long phase that left my parents completely exasperated, but it‘s definitely over with. I was a Navy brat, so you‘d assume I‘d be disciplined as all fuck. Really, though, because my dad was gone a lot and Mom was just too soft, I was a bad child. I was expelled from Kindergarten on the first day because of my behavior, and suspended for three days from the one to which I was transferred following the expulsion. After that, Dad got pretty pissed, so I guess I improved enough to be allowed at school, but it‘s not like I was an angel, either. As the school years passed, the detentions racked up. Eventually, I wasn‘t even grounded for the detentions any more. Freshman year of high school, the first day, in fact, I was suspended for a week because of some stunt I pulled. I don‘t even remember what it was. Anyway, that year was the same one that my dad retired from the Navy, and him being around improved my behavior drastically. For one, I didn‘t feel the need to be completely “out there“ in order to make friends incredibly quickly (which was always necessary, if I wanted to make any friends at all before we were relocated), and then he was actually punishing me for the bad shit I did. I can‘t even begin to say how grateful I am. I mean, it sucked at first, because I just hated having rules. But now, I see that they were there for a reason. If nothing else, being forced to behave saved me from punishments much worse than suspension and grounding. My grades freshman year were pretty low- I got mostly C‘s, and maybe a D or two- but starting Sophomore year, I worked harder. I never quite buckled down enough to get a 4.0, but I did start getting more B‘s, and had no more D‘s. Because I kept this up, I managed to also take some college courses on top of high school ones during my senior year, and once I graduated, I went to the community college for criminal justice. And then when I turned 21, I became a cop. It‘s a little ironic, the devil-child growing up to be part of the long arm of the law, but, you know… whatever."
